Ok my buddy that works for fema just bought one of these 600 dollar phones and i'm gonna say I WILL HAVE ONE WITHIN THE NEXT MONTH. This thing is awesome where has it been. I was skeptical about it but i must say it is awesome sleek not to big not to small excellent display well worth it they have already hacked it so it won't be long until you'll be able to add more applications to it. Just wondering if any of you other guys have one if so what do you think.

"hacked it" ... meaning, you got it to work on a network other than AT&T? Because that would be pretty kickass. I was disappointed to hear about the slow net speeds their network has.

that would be a yes poker and they are yet to release the 3g version the one out now works on edge which is the only thing offered in my area. But the also figured out that apple gives you the ability to to start over as far as software in the phone. So they have been able to add the extra apps from the base programming and then upload them to the phone, as a whole. Oh here is a a link i found showing the i phone in use
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgW7or1TuFk&feature=dir But it does have the ability to connect to wi-fi networks which lets face it in a big city where do you go that doesn't have a wi-fi network lol. |

I like it too - and we have a lot of friends with them.
Overall opinion from them... it is great a first, but the buzz wears off after a while. There are some glitchy things that people don't think of when they first start using it. But I agree, it is a really cool phone, just in need of a rev 2. I will probably buy that... but will have to first cut off everything on the right side of my body to appease the gods for going with AT&T. This is a GREAT review of the iPhone... really no BS... it is a little wordy... but if you are really in to it... it goes over the pluses and minuses pretty well. http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/apple/no-...iew-276116.php My personal gripes: (1) ATT (2) No removable storage (3) Not enough storage (8G) is not enough for the OS, app data, personal data, photos, audio and video (4) No applications... and the security holes can be plugged with an update from apple - Hello? (5) Camera bites (6) No bluetooth syncing with PC (7) Headphone jack adapter (8) Non-replaceable battery, battery life (9) Data syncing with Mac is not what you would expect (10) Try entering an email address or non-simple web-address I personally think they rushed this one a bit... I think version 2 will be a lot better off. Think of the AppleTV... they released it 6 months ago. Cool product... but needs some updates... they have had only 1 MINOR update since its inception. BTW - they are already on a new hard disk size... the original 40G hard disk was too small (surprise)... I replaced it with a 160G myself... and now they have a 160G hard drive available. Anyway, let us know what you think when you get it. Last edited by BigRedDog : Monday, July 23, 2007 at 11:37 am. |

Let me know when it's $39.99
![]() Cool review. I don't use half the crap on my current phone, so I don't expect to be rushing to get one of these. The only time I use any of the extra stuff is if I'm on the crapper. ![]() |

My personal gripes:
(1) ATT-------who just bought cingular and several other small companys which will be the best carrier in my area now (2) No removable storage-----Very true but easy to upload via computer (3) Not enough storage (8G) is not enough for the OS, app data, personal data, photos, audio and video-----Holy hell i've never had that much lol and the system files and OS are only 180MB The iPhone OS currently is taking up 180MB of space, the reviewers were wrong on what they said, they haven't taken a number of things into consideration when doing their calculations. Here is the reason. Remember that according to the technical specs of the iphone they consider a gigabyte to be 1000000000 bytes, but in reality the way computers calculate a gigabyte is 1073741824 bytes. (1024 x 1024 x 1024) So, in the iphone activation/sync video it is showing that there is 7.27 GB free. Take a look at this calculation... 8000000000 bytes available on an 8bg iphone without the os... now 8000000000 divided by 1.073741824 equals 7.45 gigabytes actual formatted capacity, the iphone is showing 7.27gb free, so the OS is actually taking approximately 180mb. OH one more thing on this http://www.everythingiphone.com/foru...vies-6807.html http://code.google.com/p/telekinesis/ (4) No applications... and the security holes can be plugged with an update from apple - Hello?------Thats what i was telling Poker they give you a restore that can be uploaded from your PC ppl have already found out how to add apps to this so even with the rev. 2 you can still use the old one till the 3 days are over when they hack the new one lol (5) Camera bites------I didn't like the fact that there was no zoom or flash on it. But quality looked rather well to me. (6) No bluetooth syncing with PC----WI-FI had it on my network at home using a usb wireless adapter lol (7) Headphone jack adapter----No biggie http://www.macrumors.com/2007/07/23/...unboxing-pics/ (8) Non-replaceable battery, battery life-----Yeah also the one I played with at first the battery went down quick after a couple of charges so said my friend it was far more hearty oh and>>> The iPhone can only be this small using lithium polymer batteries, which mold in place. It's a technological limitation, not Apple's fault. Others test results for batteries: Pogue: 5 hours of video, 23 hours of music (with Wi-Fi on) Mossberg: 7 hours and 18 minutes of continuous talk time. 22 hours of music, just under 7 hours, Internet/Youtube/Email over 9 hours (All with Wifi on and email being fetched) (9) Data syncing with Mac is not what you would expect----Yeah it blows but I don't own a MAC lol (10) Try entering an email address or non-simple web-address----Elaborate please it seemed quite easy to me. Oh by no means and I trying to justify this to you or anybody else I just love this phone lol. None of the above things really bothered me. The MMS capabilities did cause you can't recieve them. But it sends you an addy and you go to the web address and you can view them there. |

I just got mine today. Ordered it about 3 weeks ago...
8gb. Love it. It's got faults like a missing voice memo feature but i don't care. It's pricy; don't care. Seriously, 2x4" finger touch screen, web browsing with a fully functional browser supporting CSS, Javascript and plugins. Visual voicemail so i can see my messages and choose which ones to immediately listen to. Full HTML email access that taps right into my GMail account through POP and keeps an eye on it, shows me previews when messages come in, allows me to view the message as intended with screen grabs, styled HTML or whatever--plus replying is very easy with the dynamically adjusting keyboard. Also, numerous other fingertip-flipping apps to keep my life in order and me connected to my clients. I can't justify *not* getting this phone. I was concerned with switching to AT&T but again, i can't justify not having this phone. #1. They will release software updates to add features like the voice memo ability which syncs with iTunes to pull your memos off. It just isn't ready yet. There is also rumor of a software update allowing video capture. #2. The rich web access it offers plugs most any application hole that somebody could gripe about. On the other hand i am very happy to see Nemo type that it has been hacked already as i will get all that much more use out of it then. #3. Power. Yep, it's short but it handles iPod accessories and they have additional battery accessory packs that snap onto the bottom of those to charge while powering. It comes with 2 types of charging, the base plus a slimmer cord-only, and a car charger is about $20 if i remember right. #4. Storage. 8gb does suck but whatcha gonna do? We live with it for now, maybe pick up an iPod/iPhone memory accessory that's available at some point, if it isn't already (since i don't have an iPod so i'm not totally up-to-date on all of this), and otherwise i guess we can expect the 30gb size from the larger iPod or possibly even bigger than that in the next version. CoMM is a happy boy with his new toy so bash on its lack of features as much as you want... Why? B/C with all of its faults, it uses a next-gen touch screen technology which opens up way too many doors to ignore. The interfaces are all very easy to use and suited to the task. Nearly the entire face can become something different from one screen to the next. That cool dual-touch pinching and pulling technique that have been shown on some of those videos here lately, *it has* as the zooming functionality. It's just too next-gen to be picking at its missing features IMO. Buy it if you can justify the expense or just want to treat yourself. Be happy they didn't wait another 2 years until iPhone2 was ready before they released it to the general public as M$ would have done.Last edited by CoMM : Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at 9:32 pm. |
